Wet Paint on the Runway: Oribe Hair at NYFW 2026

Session Stylist Joey George brings Donna Huanca–inspired artistry to New York Fashion Week with a bold, lived-in glossy updo.

The Diotima Spring/Summer 2026 Collection is inspired by the cultural expression of the Caribbean and Carnival, featuring pops of bright colors and bold textures, including the designer’s signature crochet. Oribe Session Stylist, Joey George, complemented this with a hair look titled “WET PAINT!”, influenced by multidisciplinary artist Donna Huanca’s “Painted Bodies Performances”. He created a poetic and emotional look embodying the duality of a businesswoman who is also a party girl, with a lived-in style from partying the night before but going back to business in the morning.

Residual Glossy Updo

  1. First, mist dry hair with Foundation Mist.
  2. Apply Run-Through Detangling Primer to coat the hair.
  3. Then apply Curl Shaping Mousse from the roots to ends, leaving the hair saturated and slick.
  4. Pull the hair back into a structured chignon and secure with an elastic.
  5. Lacquer the hair by coating it with Superfine Strong Hair Spray.
  6. Mix Gold Lust Restorative Night Crème for Hair with a bit of white clay and freely dash on one side of the face and hairline. Wipe awaymost of the mix, leaving residuals of clay on the hair and face.
  7. To finish, spray Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray to the pulled back hair, creating a high gloss finish.
