Equestrian Elegance Meets High-Fashion Glamour at Baum und Pferdgarten

In their SS26 Collection, Notes from the Grandstand, Danish fashion house Baum und Pferdgarten drew on elements of derby with a playful blend of sporting utility and society glamour. The equestrian world that inspired the collection is one in which every detail matters—from the rider’s posture to the horse’s stride. That same harmony between structure and movement are at the heart of the Wrap Plait look designed for the collection by Oribe Global Principal Artist, Nicci Welsh.

Drawing on the poised elegance of equestrian style, the silk scarf-woven braids on the runway evoked a timeless yet modern look capturing the balance between control and ease. Long, clean braids bring the polish, while a silk scarf adds softness, texture, and a touch of high-fashion glamour. “It’s that balance of discipline and fluidity—precise, but with a romantic movement,” says Welsh. “I wanted the style to feel both heritage and high fashion.”

Prep the Hair
Before braiding, protect and perfect.
Begin with Oribe Invisible Defense to shield hair from heat and lock in hydration. A soft blowout using Maximista Thickening Spray creates touchable fullness and grip, essential for a refined braid that holds its shape.

Anchor & Weave
The key to the Wrap Plait’s polished look is its seamless integration of silk and hair.
Once dried, pull the hair back into a ponytail and place the silk scarf at the base, anchoring it with a discreet hair elastic. Divide the hair into three sections, incorporating the scarf into two of the strands for a consistent weave down the length. Secure the braid with a black elastic and let the scarf tails hang loose for soft, graceful movement. Finish with a mist of Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray to lock in style, no matter the weather.

Pro Styling Tips
Nicci Welsh breaks down some simple tips to achieve an elegant look that won't budge.
Choose a lightweight scarf to avoid overpowering the braid.. For silky hair, spritz Dry Texturizing Spray before braiding for better grip. Always anchor your scarf with an elastic before weaving to prevent slipping.
