Windswept Hair Takes Off at Copenhagen Fashion Week
During Copenhagen Fashion Week, Baum und Pferdgarten invited guests to take flight. Their Autumn/Winter 2026 Collection, titled Airborne, unfolded in the center of Copenhagen on a runway resembling an airport landing strip. From strands to style, the spirit of Amelia Earhart touched every look. It was a collection designed for women who exist between worlds, complemented with windswept hair styled by Oribe Principal Artist Nicci Welsh.
“Inspired by Amelia Earhart, we explored how uniforms originally designed for a masculine approach can exist alongside elegant and sophisticated wearers. The collection brings together strength and sensitivity, using utilitarian silhouettes softened by fluid fabrics and expressive details.” —Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave, Creative Directors
A pioneering aviator and style icon in her own right, Earhart blurred boundaries: between earth and sky, masculinity and femininity, utility and elegance. These tensions became the foundation of the collection. Aviator-inspired jackets, structured uniforms, distressed leather, rigid denim, and functional layers evoked the discipline of flight, while fluid dresses, lightweight fabrics, and more feminine details offset the utilitarian elements of the collection. Outerwear dominated the narrative, protective and performance-driven while balanced by hair that moved as though still suspended in the air.
Every look felt wind-touched yet intentional, as if the models had just removed their helmets after crossing continents. Strands were sculpted close to the face while lengths were left to move freely behind in the air.
Oribe Principal Artist, Nicci Welsh, used Mystify Restyling Spray as the hero product backstage on a variety of hair types and textures to evoke a sense of movement, freedom, and strength. Texture also played a central role in the story. Mystify Restyling Spray delivered surface hydration and definition on Type 4 coils while reactivating bounce and movement on Type 2 to 3 curls.
Straighter textures were prepped with the same multi-tasking formula to protect during heat styling for a polished finish without sacrificing softness or motion, ensuring each step down the runway felt fluid and alive for every model’s natural pattern.
The result was consistent across every look: hair became part of the uniform and an expression of freedom, identity, and transformation. Windswept yet grounded, disciplined yet undone, it reflected the spirit of Amelia Earhart: fearless, self-possessed, and entirely her own.
