Iconic Hair Starts With These Expert-Approved Essentials

From mastering your shampoo lather to styling secrets for frizz-free strands, Oribe Global Artists Katie Manselle and Adam Livermore have perfected the art of hair. Keep scrolling for their product pointers, expert advice, and pro tips for polishing your hair care routine—because sometimes, even iconic manes need a helping hand (or two).

Meet the Artists

Katie Manselle, Oribe Global Artist, based in Raleigh-Durham, NC.

Adam Livermore, Oribe Global Artist, based in New York, NY.

STEP ONE

Cleansing & Conditioning

For strands that feel squeaky clean but never stripped, Manselle and Livermore reach for Gold Lust Repair + Restore Shampoo and Conditioner. “This is the fountain of youth for hair,” Manselle tells Oribe. This best-selling duo revives hair, restores shine, and removes build-up from hard water, chlorine, and metals. “It brings life back to hair that has been chemically processed, bleached, or even just hair that needs extra love and attention,” she explains. When it comes to creating the perfect lather, technique matters. “With sulfate-free shampoos, if you’re not getting enough lather, add more hot water to the hair, not more shampoo,” Livermore advises. In other words, a little extra elbow grease goes a long way.

STEP TWO

Treating

For hair that needs added strength and protection, Hair Alchemy Fortifying Treatment Serum is a must. “This is an amazing anti-breakage serum that also has 450°F heat protection,” Manselle says. “It’s why people think I have extensions, and why my long, bleached hair is strong and happy,” she shares. The versatile formula works as a priming product before styling or as a one-and-done treatment before blowdrying. Livermore also reaches for it when hair is being pulled back tightly—think super-snatched ponytails or tight braids—shielding strands from breakage when they need it most.

STEP THREE

Prepping & Protecting

Sleek, polished blowouts begin with Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray. Livermore applies on wet hair for faster blow dries, heat protection, and shine, or lightly on dry hair before flat ironing for the trending glass-hair effect. When it comes to application, restraint is key. "Apply like perfume,” he explains. “Use the way it floats and spreads in the air to make it land sheer and even. Two or three spritzes is probably enough,” or spray a touch onto a boar hair finishing brush like our Italian Resin Flat Brush and run it through the lengths of the hair for the perfect, high-shine finish.

Another Icon that Manselle and Livermore always return to is Supershine Moisturizing Cream. “It beautifully adds moisture to hair while calming frizz and adding the most beautiful reflect,” Manselle shares. Livermore puts it perfectly—it’s like French skincare for your hair.

STEP FOUR

Styling

Gold Lust Dry Heat Protection Spray is Manselle’s latest obsession and our non-negotiable when it comes to heat styling. This supremely light protectant is perfect for everybody, especially those who don’t want their hair to feel weighed down and use heat tools regularly. For expert-level application, she suggests spraying section by section during the styling process to ensure every hair is coated. “This product is so lightweight you don’t feel a thing, so by spraying as you style, you won’t miss a single hair.”

“Anywhere you have slip, Dry Texturing Spray gives you grip,” Livermore tells Oribe. “It’s great on hair that’s too clean to be workable, or even a little too dirty,” he explains. Spray at the roots upside down (or right side up) and massage to absorb oil and add instant volume. You can also apply before putting your hair up for an easier, longer-lasting style. “It’s light enough you can layer endlessly, but effective with just one spray,” Manselle says. “Perfect to use after adding waves to your hair for a little rock-n-roll or beachy wind-blown hair.”

STEP FIVE

Finishing Touches

Last but not least, think of Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil as a deep drink for thirsty strands and split ends. “Hair needs moisture just like skin does,” Manselle explains. “This is an easy and user-friendly way to do it.” Smooth a few drops through the hair to instantly restore softness and shine. Her final tip? Always remember to apply from your mid-lengths to ends, not at the roots.
