“When I hear the words ‘holiday party,’ I automatically see a room full of sequined, shimmery dresses. But sequins can be tough to pull off, so when sticking to this holiday trend, I like to lean towards darker colors. There is no need to over-accessorize; holiday-themed studded earrings are just enough. Wear a lower-heeled shoe to make standing on your feet all night a breeze.”
“With an eye-catching texture like sequins on the body, I like the hair to have a cool-girl, easy feel to it. A big bouncy ponytail à la Ariana Grande is perfect. It says you made a gesture of putting your hair up, but you won’t look like you tried too hard.”

Get the Look:
1. Apply Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse to damp hair. Blow-dry with a big round brush to add bounce to the ends of the hair.
2. Spray Dry Texturizing Spray for more texture.
3. Pull the hair up into a high ponytail.
4. Seal the style with a spray of Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray for light hold. Let a few pieces fall around your face.

“I looked to Angelina Jolie as inspiration for this look. A soft, smoky cat-eye with a deep, red lip will really pop against the green dress.”

Get the Look:
1. Apply a natural base to the skin. Contour the cheeks with a natural bronzer for fierce cheekbones.
2. Apply a soft taupe to the lid of the eye.
3. Using an angled brush, apply black eye shadow, starting with a cat-like flick at the outer corner of the eye.
4. Work your way in along the lash line. “This look should be smoky, so doesn't need to be a super sharp line,” explained Blondie.
5. Follow up with a sparkly brown eye shadow under the eye and in the outer corner with a pencil brush, joining it up to the eyeliner.
6. Apply a few coats of black mascara for fuller lashes.
7. Top off with a deep, red lip for that red carpet finish.

“Bows were made for holiday parties. But keep in mind that the bow should be the main focus of your ensemble so it doesn’t become too costume looking. Fur coats (I prefer faux) are always a must for holiday parties, too. A pair of blue sapphire earrings, patent leather pumps and and a sparkly clutch complete this glamour-chic look.”
“You want a little sex appeal to balance the sweetness of this look. Think rough, yet polished. Kate Moss meets Brigitte Bardot. Once you’ve styled your look, give it a sexy shake and you’re ready to party!”

Get the Look:
1. Work a nickel-size amount of Crème for Style into wet hair and blow-dry.
2. Apply Balm d’Or Heat Styling Shield to the hair and curl it section by section with a large barrel curling iron. Clip the curls in place until they cool.
3. Finish the look Thick Dry Finishing Spray and generously brush the curls out.

“This look is all about gorgeous skin. Think Kate Moss glow!”

Get the Look:
1. Apply an illuminating moisturizer to the skin and follow with a dewy foundation.
2. Use bronzer to contour the cheeks. Apply an illuminating powder to the cheekbones for super glowing skin.
3. On the eyes, apply a soft wash of matte light gray eye shadow to the eyelid. Finish with black mascara.
4. Apply a sheer pink lipstick with a satin finish.

Formal Affair

With the holidays approaching, our inboxes are filled with invites to celebratory soirees. The festive occasions run the gamut from after-work cocktails and formal galas to laidback evenings with family and ringing in the New Year. For each rendezvous, we asked a talented group of stylists, makeup artists and our own Oribe Education Team on how to dress the part. Watch this space for your hair-to-toe holiday style guide.

No holiday season is complete without a fancy fête on the calendar. For this particular style guide, we chose two different outfits depending on your formal affair’s dress code. If cocktail attire is on the invite, opt for sequins, studs and all things sparkly, paired with a ponytail, subtle cat-eye makeup and a bold, red lip. Looking to wear a floor-length gown? Our suggestion sports a classic bow, teamed with tousled curls and glowing skin. Click through our slideshow to learn how to get each look.
