Spring Trend Report

Heavy Metal

Start the spring season with healthy, beautiful hair by treating your tresses with Oribe抯 newest product innovation, Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil. In honor of our inaugural oil launch, we asked four of our favorite jewelry and accessory designers for their philosophy on the precious metal, their top gilded picks and what to rock them with this season.

First up is Jennifer Behr, whose eponymous hair accessory line counts celebrities like Charlize Theron, Rachel Bilson, Alexa Chung and Lady Gaga amongst its fans. Each piece by Behr is hand-crafted in New York from sophisticated materials like Swarovski crystals, French leathers and satin. We asked Jennifer for her top gold picks from her new collection and how to wear them this spring.

What draws you to designing hair accessories?
I love thinking of them as jewelry for the hair. It's a growing category because it抯 more modern than wearing hats and also easier to wear.

What are your top three must-have gold pieces from your collection? Why?
The Eos headband is one of my all-time favorites. The design is a golden leafed crown卛t may sound editorial, but it抯 actually very wearable!

I also love the Gold Knot headwrap. This piece is nautical, military-inspired and Grecian all at the same time桰抳e also always loved knots.

Lastly, I would pick the Petite Metal Leaf barrette. It抯 perfect for pinning back my bangs that are growing out.

What do you suggest wearing gold hair accessories with?
Gold goes with anything. You can wear it with a flowing dress or sleek leather. It's been so cold lately that I've been pairing my Eos headband with chunky knits and cable tights.

What sets gold apart from other metals in your eyes?
It's the warmest and most regal of metals.

In your opinion, why does wearing gold make people feel so special?
It's classic, warm and rich, and it抯 amazing in the hair because it picks up golden highlights in blondes and coppery warm tones in brunettes and redheads.

How would you describe the Jennifer Behr girl?
She抯 strong, feminine and an individual.

How would the Jennifer Behr customer wear their hair on a date?
Her hair would be long, loose and romantic with a delicate crystal headwrap for a little sparkle. I always wear mine up in a French twist (topped with a headband), though, because it抯 quick and easy to do.

Stay tuned for architectural jewelry designer Bliss Lau抯 picks next week.
