Going Gaga for the Holidays

This Christmas, Lady Gaga is coming to town ... if you live in Manhattan, that is. The megastar has taken over Barneys New York this holiday season, with dedicated window displays and the whimsical, 5,500-square-foot Gaga's Workshop spread out over an entire floor of the store.

Gaga's Workshop, which was conceived and brought to life by Lady Gaga, Barneys' creative director Dennis Freedman, Nicola Formichetti, Eli Sudbrack and avaf, transports shoppers to a world of bright colors, elaborate art installations and fantastical creatures. The space is divided into eight stations: Candy Shop, Library (books, CDs, media and paper goods), Toy Shop, Closet (apparel and accessories), Jewelry, Holiday, Gallery (collectibles and specialty items) and Boudoir (candles and cosmetics).

Along with the interior shops, Barneys has also transformed its Madison Avenue windows to align with the Gaga theme. Our favorite, naturally, is Gaga's Boudoir, which celebrated hairstylist Bob Recine constructed entirely out of hair. The window is a surreal interpretation of Lady Gaga's personal boudoir and plays homage to her past hairstyles and costumes.

During the holiday season, Barneys will be donating 25 percent of sales from items featured in Gaga's Workshop to the singer's Born This Way Foundation, which focuses on youth empowerment and equality.
