"Young Hollywood"

The style for this shoot was very ‘30s…that polished, put-together, classic movie-star look.

Men’s hair:
The men wore their hair in side parts…very groomed, very Clark Gable. To recreate most of the men’s styles, start with wet hair – and it’s important to have a good haircut that’s shorter on the sides and in the back. Run a good amount of Gel Sérum through the hair, make a side part and comb the hair into place. After you feel good with the shape, spray Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray all over to hold the look and maintain great shine.

The only actor with a different style was Jesse Eisenberg from The Social Network. He had a fuller look and tons of hair, so he didn’t really want the style held too tightly to the head. I used Rough Luxury Molding Wax on his hair, created a part, combed it a bit and left it alone.

Women’s hair:
The women’s hair on this cover was all about waves and curls. Very glamorous…very chic. Most of the actresses wore a similar type of pincurl set, with slight tweaks to help each person stand out.

Anne Hathaway:
Anne’s look was created with a ’30s pincurl set. I used a 1-inch-barrel iron to curl her hair, section by section, spraying it with Soft Lacquer along the way. After you make each curl, roll it up and pin it to the head. This will help lock the curl into a soft, lasting wave.

After Anne’s makeup was done, I took down the curls and brushed through the hair with a Mason Pearson, shaping the wave to frame her face. I sprayed Dry Texturizing Spray through the sides and ends of her hair to add volume and softness at the bottom of the style.

Jennifer Lawrence:
Jennifer is a big star…she’s amazing. For her hair, I styled a similar wave set - with Soft Lacquer - but used a 1.5-inch-barrel curling iron. I pinned back the sides of her hair to open up her face and keep the look very soft.

Olivia Wilde:
I wanted Olivia to have a very movie-star look. Again, this is a similar wave set with the same products, but I pinned one side back to mix up the style a bit.

Mila Kunis:
I kept Mila’s pincurl set flatter on top and kept more wave through the sides. Hers was done with a 1.5-inch curling iron to keep the waves soft.

Rashida Jones:
Rashida’s hair was styled in the same way, but with a smaller curling iron with a half-inch barrel.

Noomi Rapace:
Noomi had her own style on set. I wanted her to have an updo with a great shape. I ran Rock Hard Gel through her hair while it was wet, swept it back and twisted it to look very sleek.
