"Real Steals"

Real Simple, September 2014
Hair by Marco Braca

The “Real Steals” story in
Real Simple’s September issue features mod-inspired outfits with budgets that won’t break the bank. To complement the editorial’s homage to such a stylish decade, hairstylist Marco Braca created a modernized ’60s look that was as voluminous as it was sophisticatedly chic, complete with a short, side-swept fringe.

Get the Look:
1. Apply Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse to damp hair, using your hands to lift at the roots. “This technique will make it faster and easier for you to create the intense volume that’s needed,” explained Braca.
2. Blow-dry the hair with a medium-sized round brush, making sure the fringe is styled straight.
3. Back-comb the roots at the top center of the head to achieve classic, ’60s-style volume.
4. Use Smooth Style Serum on the fringe and the lengths of the hair for shine, hold and separation.
