Patrik Ervell

Hair by Holli Smith

Lead hairstylist Holli Smith has been a longtime collaborator with her good friend, menswear designer Patrik Ervell, who was inspired by the ethos of interior and industrial design for his Spring/Summer 2015 collection. Taking notes from Ervell’s choice of durable and high-tech materials (think weather-resistant outerwear), Smith wanted to create a look that was opposite of the popular wet hair seen on the runways. Instead, she opted for a dry and matte hairstyle associated with the punk and rock scene of the ’70s. “I really love the ’70s-style, brushed-out hair and the obsession with the Denman brush. Their first household, designer brush that they bought,” said Smith. “It made this world of hair that was broken-in and slept-in but also really ordered and neatly produced. It’s short but it’s brushed. It’s not spiky and it’s dry.”

Get the Look:
1. On damp hair, apply Maximista Thickening Spray and blow-dry with a vent brush.
2. Use Dry Texturizing Spray and flat-iron the hair so it lays toward the front to frame the face.
3. Use a Mason Pearson to liberally brush the hair. Style the hair as desired and finish the look with Superfine Strong Hair Spray.
