"National Treasures"

Vogue, June 2012
Hair by Oribe

With Olympic fever kicking into high gear, Vogue featured Team USA members Hope Solo, Ryan Lochte and Serena Williams. Oribe was on hand to create competition-ready styles for Solo and Lochte. “The feel of this shoot was very athletic,” Oribe said. “It was shot on the beach in Miami, so we went for a simple, easy look that made them feel great.“

Get Hope Solo’s look:
1. Begin by blowing hair out straight with Royal Blowout.
2. Apply Dry at the roots and Après Beach throughout hair to give it substance and add texture.
3. Pull back into a secure low ponytail.

Get Ryan Lochte’s look:
1. Work a quarter-sized amount of Fiber Groom into hair with your hands.
2. Once hair is dry, play around and piece it out. “This product is super versatile and will help you to achieve so many different looks,” Oribe said.

Vogue continued its Olympic theme with an inside spread featuring model Karlie Kloss posing with a selection of male gold medal hopefuls. “This editorial was shot outside on the beach with lots of wind, so I wanted to pull Karlie’s hair tightly on top of her head in knot for most of the shoot,” Oribe said. “The fashion looks were over the top, so it was nice to contrast the look with simple, elegant hair that’s perfect for summer.”

Get Karlie Kloss's look:
1. Let hair dry naturally and apply Dry and Après Beach. These products create a cool texture that has substance, so when you pull the hair back, it doesn’t look too severe.
2. Pull hair tightly to top of the head in a bun and pin into place, securing the ends.
