What do you wear to DJ a runway show or fashion week party? How do you style your hair?
It depends on my mood. Sometimes I go for a ladylike look with a heel. Other times I'll opt for a more casual look with a smoking slipper or loafer. I like my hair to look natural and beachy with loose waves.

How do you pick music for a runway show?
I review the collection and then assess the general vibe. And, it's important to communicate whatever the designer is trying to say! For example, Charlotte Ronson was inspired by an edgy French girl in New York City, so I used French covers of classic American rock songs mixed in with some classic girl power tracks.

What song should never be played on the runway?
Nothing too literal! A song that says fashion, fashion, fashion is probably not ideal.

What do you think will be the song of the season?
I predict a lot of Daft Punk!

Nike Frees are my only prerequisite since I'm standing the whole time.

How do you pick music for a runway show?
I interpret visual design concepts into sound for each client. Each designer is different.

What song should never be played on the runway?
There are no bad choices when the designer is trying to match their vision with music.

What do you think will be the song of the season?
“Royals” by Lorde
•
Brendan Fallis

Whose show would you most like to DJ?
Jil Sander

What do you wear to DJ a runway show or fashion week party?
It all depends on what show I am DJing. If it is menswear, I will wear the clothing from the brand. If it is womenswear, I keep it clean with a blazer and shirt buttoned all the way up.

How do you pick music for a runway show?
I work closely with the client to determine what the feeling of their collection is for the season. We will then work together to come up with a selection that fits the mood.

What song should never be played on the runway?
“Barbie” by Aqua

What do you think will be the song of the season?
A remix of “Get Lucky” or “Blurred Lines”. Although people try and stay away from popular songs, they always think a remix allows them to use it.
What is your song of the moment?
ASAP Ferg - Shabba

What was the first fashion show you DJ’ed for?
Tom Ford

Who did you DJ for this season?
I was asked to do the Alexander Wang after-party but I couldn’t because I’m on a farm in London recording my album.

Whose show would you most like to DJ?
Nom de Guerre in its day or A.P.C.

What do you wear to DJ a runway show or fashion week party? How do you style your hair?
I have this pair of trainers from Margiela that are quite old but I like wearing those. Everything else falls together including the hair, I guess. Maybe a pullover sweater; it’s always starting to get cold in September in NYC. I always have hair wax in my travel bag.

Rick Owens, Chanel and Maison Martin Margiela

What do you wear to DJ a runway show or fashion week party? How do you style your hair?
I like dark colors, but it really depends on my mood. I don't style my hair…it styles itself!

How do you pick music for a runway show?
I look at the collection and do my research on the designer, then find what old or underground songs/sounds fit, even if I have to make them myself.

What song should never be played on the runway?
“Vogue” by Madonna

What do you think will be the song of the season?
•
Mia Moretti

Top 5 songs you're listening to right now:
Natalia Kills - Outta Time
MS MR - Think Of You (RAC Remix)
Eve - E.V.E.
Katy Perry - Dark Horse
Bastille - Pompeii

What was the first fashion show you DJ’ed?
My first fashion show was actually for Shepard Farey's line OBEY, which is basically t-shirts. It was a fun show nonetheless!

Who did you DJ for this season?
This season I DJ’ed the Alice + Olivia SS 2014 show, Timo Weiland SS 2014 after-party, Philosophy SS 2014 after-party, Rebecca Minkoff SS 2014 after-party, Osklen SS 2014 after-party and the Elle Magazine Music x Style event. Also, I debuted my new single with my band, The Dolls, live at the Estée Lauder Modern Muse launch at the Guggenheim. The Dolls are also touring with Eve, so we’ve been popping in and out of fashion week.

Whose show would you most like to DJ?
Probably Miu Miu or Prada. I find Miuccia Prada to be one of the most intriguing women in fashion, and it would be an honor to be in her world for even a short moment.

What do you think will be the song of the season?
'Tom Ford' by Jay Z

What do you wear to DJ a runway show or fashion week party?
I almost always wear the designer whose show or after-party I am playing. Sometimes it's a favorite archive piece, sometimes it's Resort or Fall 2013, and sometimes it's a drop from the current collection that didn't end up in the show.

How do you style your hair?
My hair has a tendency to end up tied back no matter how fancy or pretty it is when I leave the house. Because I know this, I usually style it appropriately either in a knot, braid or some variation of that. Wearing it back becomes boring, so I'm always looking around the room for something to throw in there — flowers, gems, pearls, anything!

What song should never be played on the runway?
I don't like anything new if it's too recognizable, I don't think the attention should skip from the eyes to the ears. Runway music needs to compliment what you are seeing without distracting from it.

How do you pick music for a runway show?
If I’m producing the music for a runway show, or even just DJing the after-party, the most important thing for me is to make sure I am communicating with the designer to get a sense of the mood for the collection. Of course everything changes as we get closer to show time, but it’s good to keep track of that evolution, because there is something in each phase that will most likely play a part in the final composition.
 •
Kris Bones

What’s on your iPod right now:
The same thing that is always on my iPod: old school hip-hop and rare groove.

What was the first fashion show you DJ’ed?
My first catwalk was Vivienne Westwood show in 1996 in London. My first NYFW show was DKNY in September 2000.

Who did you DJ for this season?
Tanya Taylor, Misha Nonoo, Rag & Bone, Christian Siriano, DKNY, J Crew and Betsey Johnson

Whose show would you most like to DJ?
Anyone new who is not mental unless its 'fun' mental, then them too.

What do you wear to DJ a runway show or fashion week party? How do you style your hair?
Black attire, sneakers, hair short…like a south Londoner in New York getting into trouble.

How do you pick music for a runway show?
Each designer has his or her own ideas, so it’s my job to translate that into catwalk music. Sometimes its easy, sometimes its like removing a 60 stone (840 lb) man from a house with a plastic fork.

What do you think will be the song of the season?
“ATM JAM” by Azealia Banks featuring Pharrell
•
Hesta Prynn

Top 5 songs you’re listening to:
Miguel - Use Me
Tegan and Sara - I Was a Fool
DWNTWN - Transition, Dillon Francis Remix
Lady Gaga - Applause
Crosby Stills & Nash - Guinevere

Who did you DJ for this season?
I'll be DJ'ed parties for Editorialist and Stylecaster and the closing party for Style 360/Just Dance.

Whose show would you most like to DJ?
Christian Siriano

What do you wear to DJ a runway show or fashion week party? How do you style your hair?
My bright red hair is what I'm known for, so I like to wear it really big or pin straight and really long. When you DJ at Fashion Week, you wear whoever you're working for at the time. Then there are the designers you're really loyal to and wear a lot; for me that's Erin Fetherston, Alice & Olivia and Sandro.

How do you pick music for a runway show?
Something that tells the story of the clothes and makes you want to move. I've always wanted to play 'Dominos' by The Big Pink Show...I think it would slay.

What song should never be played on the catwalk?
I walked in a show last year to classical music. It didn't move me at all. You need a beat.
