Eckhaus Latta

Hair by Ramona Eschbach

Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta, the talented young designers behind brand-on-the-rise Eckhaus Latta, avoided referencing any concrete concepts for their Spring/Summer 2015 collection. The design duo focused on textiles treated with rust and interesting cuts that fused creativity with wearability. Lead hairstylist Ramona Eschbach created two looks with rope braids—one down and one up—for the girls and a highly textured look for the guys to complement the clothes. “The hair was inspired by the texture of the clothes, so we wanted something rough and unfinished,” said Eschbach.

Get the Look: Loose Braids:
1. Section the hair in the back and wet each section with Foundation Mist from roots to ends.
2. Using your hands, work Sculpting Cream through the hair to create natural waves. The look is flat and matted to the head, so pat the product in section-by-section and avoid scrunching, which will create volume.
3. Once you get to the crown, emulsify Rough Luxury Soft in your hands and slick back the sides. Use your hands to create a little height at the top.
4. Blow-dry the hair on low heat while holding your hand against the head to keep the hair in shape. Once the hair is dry, spray Dry Texturizing Spray throughout the lengths to create a matte finish.
5. Finish the look by creating two rope braids down the back.

Get the Look: Braided Bun:
1. Start by creating the loose braids look. Instead of creating two small rope braids in the back, create one large braid.
2. Twist the braid up into a low bun and use a string to tie the hair up instead of a band.
3. Gently pull random pieces out to create a natural, disheveled look.

Get the Men’s Look:
1. Wet the hair with Foundation Mist. Use Sculpting Cream to create waves in the hair.
2. Spray Dry Texturizing Spray allover to create a matte texture.
3. Blow-dry the hair on low heat while holding your hand against the head to keep the hair in shape and matted against the head.
