With a Miami Beach bike shop as the backdrop and UFC fighter Alan Jouban as the subject, editorial stylist Ben Thigpen’s hair vision was clear—rough, dirty and natural. Alan Jouban, who has nine career knockouts under his belt, appeared in At Large Magazine’s May 2016 issue under the guidance of Ben, photographer Giampaolo Sgura and stylist Miguel Arnau. “Giampaolo knew he wanted the hair, clothes and atmosphere to coincide and make sense together,” said Ben. “The overall look is sweaty and easy, with an in-between not too shiny, not too matte sheen.”
Get the Look:
- Massage a small dollop of Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse into damp hair, starting at the roots and working through.
- Blow dry until 40 percent dry while brushing hair forward to get the maximum amount of volume at the root. Apply a small amount of Rough Luxury Soft Molding Paste from the mid shaft to the ends for sheen.
- Finish blow-drying on high heat until 100 percent dry, while continuously combing hair back with fingers in the desired direction. Use a round brush in the front to give strength to the front hairline.
- If hair gets greasy throughout the day, spray Dry Texturizing Spray on the roots and brush through with hands.
