Carrie Underwood at the 2013 CMA Awards

Carrie Underwood, CMA Awards 2013
Hair by Melissa Schleicher

Carrie Underwood showcased several gorgeous styles as host of the 2013 Country Music Association (CMA) Awards, but her vintage-inspired pre-show look really turned heads on the red carpet. To help her with her ever-changing tresses for the night, Underwood called on her longtime hair and makeup artist Melissa Schleicher of Parlour 3 Salon in Brentwood, TN. “Carrie is a fantastic client,” Schleicher said. “She makes every look amazing.” Schleicher’s favorite of the night was what she dubbed Underwood’s Old Hollywood Retro Glamour moment: “She was breathtaking.”

Get the Look:
1) Blow out hair using a big round brush. Once hair is dry, apply Soft Lacquer Heat Styling Spray on each section of hair to protect the strands and add shine.
2) Set your hair in small heated rollers by rolling them “under;” if you have bangs, set them in an “upward and back” position. Leave rollers in for 30 minutes to set properly.
3) Once your hair has cooled, remove rollers gently and spray Dry Texturizing Spray on the root area and brush out waves gently with a boar bristle brush.
4) Part your hair to the side, working it to a shape that frames your face.
5) Tease your hair once it is in place and gently brush smooth. Add a decorative hair comb.
6) Finish with Superfine Hair Spray to hold the look in place.
