• Hot on the heels of our Backstage Miami 2013 extravaganza, the Oribe Education Team took the show on the road with a four-city tour to bring the magic of Backstage to smaller venues across the country.
Oribe co-presidents Tev Finger and Daniel Kaner were present to kick off the Backstage: On Location events by welcoming stylists and introducing the Backstage Inspiration Challenge.
 • These events deconstructed Oribe’s original inspirations and references from the La Fama show and stripped them down into their core elements, making them translatable looks for the salon and the editorial client.
 • Renowned Oribe educators Steven Schmidt, Louis Orozco and Kien Hoang were on-hand to lead the events in Seattle, Los Angeles and Dallas and their final stop will be in Boston on September 29, 2013.

'Backstage: On Location was a wonderful experience! Not only did I learn great new techniques…I also learned a lot about myself and what kind of business owner I want to be. The Oribe family is so inspiring. The educators were unlike any I've experienced before. It was a wonderful and inspiring day!” said Hailey Boam, owner of Rare Intensity Salon.
• One of the demonstrated looks at Backstage: On Location was the glamorous waves inspired by the heightened emotion and drama of Spanish telenovelas seen during the Amor Eternal segment of THE SHOW.

Barb from Le Coupe Sauvage attended both Backstage and the LA On Location event: “La Fama was my first Backstage experience and I was lucky to have attended with the majority of my salon. We loved it! The energy, the creativity, the inspiration and the team bonding were well worth the trip. LA was a different experience. It emphasized the 'technical' portion…but Miami was everything! I definitely won't miss Backstage next year.”

 • 'I loved the experience…it was a great way to complete the awesome weekend in Miami. I’m glad to have more experience with the whole team. It makes me want to go to Backstage every year!' said Whitney Parr from Splurge Salon of the Dallas workshop. • After the demonstrations, stylists honed their technical skills and expressed their own vision of the looks they saw onstage on live models.
 • Oribe educator Kien Hoang gives feedback to stylists at the LA event.

Allie from Rare Intensity Salon in Salt Lake City, Utah participated in the hands-on portion and said, “I loved the educators and how personable they were. I learned a lot of valuable techniques that I've already started to apply in the salon!'
 • Participating stylists finished the day with a professional photo shoot of their look for their portfolios. Inspired by Oribe’s Chupacabra, Sierra and Chris from The Doves Studio created this whimsical interpretation at the LA workshop.

Backstage: On Location Atelier

This past June, Oribe Hair Care presented Backstage Miami 2013, our biggest event to date with nearly 1,500 attendees. The three-day extravaganza brought our network of world-class salons to Oribe’s home city to indulge in a weekend of creativity and exploration.

Following the success of Backstage Miami, the Oribe Education Team began a four-city tour to bring the magic of the main event to smaller venues across the country. Backstage: On Location—which has already made stops in Seattle, Los Angeles and Dallas and will soon make its way to Boston—showcases the couture, Latin-inspired looks from the La Fama show and breaks them down to their core elements, allowing stylists to add their own flavor and create styles for both the salon and editorial client. These events, a complimentary added value for those who attended the Miami show, served to help some relive the inspiration they felt in June and receive more technical training; others were invited to discover the La Fama experience for the first time.

Leading these education-focused events is the renowned Oribe Education Team, a select group of industry leaders in the areas of cutting, styling and editorial work. While their backgrounds are diverse, they share a love of hairdressing and passion for teaching. Oribe workshops have always been tailored to progressive salons and stylists, and Backstage: On Location is no different.

Oribe co-presidents Daniel Kaner and Tev Finger kick off each Backstage: On Location event to welcome guests and introduce this year’s Backstage Inspiration Challenge, which encourages salons teams to work together on an editorial shoot inspired by La Fama. The Education Team then took to the stage to demonstrate looks from THE SHOW, further explaining Oribe’s references and showing multiple translations for both editorial and salon work. Following the styling presentation, attendees got to express their own vision and practice new techniques on live models during the hands-on portion of the day. As with all Oribe workshops, the event culminated in a photo shoot, giving each participant a professional image to add to his or her portfolio.

To see additional images from the Backstage: On Location events, follow #oribehair on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook—our enthusiastic attendees have posted thousands of photos to date…and we look forward to seeing even more visuals at the Boston event in late September.

Due to popular demand, Oribe Hair Care and Wella have added three new dates to our cross-country tour. Click here to see the additional dates and locations.
