Ashley Turchin

Since officially opening in 2009, The Wynwood Arts District has swiftly become one of Miami’s most creative communities. What used to be an area of abandoned warehouses has been completely transformed into a mecca of art galleries, performance studios, restaurants and cafes that offer an alternative scene to Miami’s nightlife. We talked with Ashley Turchin, Gallery Manager at Peter Tunney Experiment in Wynwood, who told us about her favorite spot in Wynwood plus several other must-visit places in Miami.

What's an ideal night out in Miami for you?

Sushi at Pubbelly or Zuma, followed by good company and live music at Soho Beach House. Not often enough, the evening ends with a dance off at Wall or SL.

Favorite spa in Miami?

Cowshed at Soho Beach House.

Favorite places to work out?

Sanctuary 7 pilates with Nicole, Flybarre at FlyWheel and bike riding on the Venetian Causeway.

Any hidden gems people might not know about?

Wynwood! Inside the Wynwood Walls is Peter Tunney's gallery where I work. The whole area is exploding with energy and incredible street art, great restaurants and bars, shops and art galleries. Altamare is still one of my favorite local spots for the best fresh seafood and excellent service. The Carrot Express, located inside the Texaco gas station on Alton Road, is my to-go spot for a healthy lunch and fresh-squeezed juice. You have to go to David's Cafe for the best Cuban coffee and cuisine in town!

What do you consider to be the coolest hotel in Miami?

Soho Beach House is the most chic and relaxing spot on the beach. It's my home away from home. I also love The Gale; it's a one-stop shop: great rooms, dinner at Dolce, dancing at Rec Room and late-night exotic cocktails at the Regent Cocktail Club.
