Interview Magazine, February 2014
Hair by Tomo Jidai

Seventies classics mix with eighties decadence and desire in this retro fashion feature for Interview Magazine’s 2014 Men’s Issue. The editorial, however light on clothing, displays a multitude of well-groomed men styled by Tomo Jidai. Tomo achieved the various styles by starting with great cuts and finishing each look with the right products.

After washing each model’s hair with Shampoo and Conditioner for Brilliance & Shine, Tomo tidied up each model’s cut, focusing on the sides and the back. For two of the models, he trimmed down the sides with a 3mm razor, and another model with a 9mm razor.

Tomo worked with a variety of styling products: “When I wanted a sleek, wet look with a little bit of volume, I used Rock Hard Gel. And for the slicked back styles, I went with Sculpting Cream,” he said. For a classic quiff, Tomo favored the Original Pomade for the old-school greasy texture, and for more messy textured looks, he applied Fiber Groom Elastic Texture Paste.
