"If I Could Change Your Mind" Music Video

Hair by Candice Birns

Sister trio Haim recently released the music video for their new song “If I Could Change Your Mind,” and their hairstylist, Candice Birns, gave us all the details about the shoot. “It’s ’70s
Soul Train,” Candice said of the video’s theme, “It was like a fun dance party; just a good time.” The girls spend a majority of the video on a platform lit up by a retro sign baring the band’s name, dancing to a choreographed routine, playing instruments and whipping their signature long locks back and forth. “We wanted to create pretty hair that moves,” Candice explained. “For these girls it’s all about effortless natural movement and a little bit of good flyaway.”

Get Este’s Look:
1. Apply Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse to damp hair from roots to ends and rough-dry hair until it’s 80 percent dry. Mist sections of hair with Thick Dry Finishing Spray and blow-dry with a large round boar-bristle brush to create a smooth, polished finish.
2. Wave hair in large sections with a 1½-inch curling iron from mid-shaft to ends to create movement.
3. Take a pea-sized amount of Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil and distribute onto hands before applying to hair by twisting the lengths. “This helped to prevent frizz during shooting,” Candice said.
4. Mist hair lightly with Après Beach Wave & Shine Spray to finish.

Get Danielle’s Look:
1. Spray damp hair with Volumista Mist for Volume from roots to ends and blow out with a large round boar-bristle brush to create body.
2. Take a pea-sized amount of Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil and distribute through the lengths of the hair to prevent frizz.
3. Mist roots with Dry Texturizing Spray, then apply through the ends to add texture. Wave hair in large sections with a 1¼-inch curling iron. Curl pieces in the front away from the face to create an S-shape that frames the face.
4. Mist random sections of hair with Après Beach Wave & Shine Spray for added piecyness. Apply Superfine Strong Hair Spray to fingertips and smooth down flyaways on top of head.
5. Finish by misting hair with Dry Texturizing Spray from a distance. “This helps create the good flyaway for an ethereal look,” Candice said.

Get Alana’s Look:
1. Starting with damp hair, apply a mixture of Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil and Supershine Moisturizing Cream from mid-shaft to ends to smooth hair. Apply Volumista Mist for Volume at the crown and blow-dry hair with a large round boar-bristle brush.
2. Mist lengths of hair with Après Beach Wave & Shine Spray and wave large sections of hair with a curling iron, alternating between a 1½- and 1¼-inch barrel.
3. Take a tiny amount of Original Pomade and emulsify in hands before applying to top of head to tame flyaways and add a little shine.
4. Take a small amount of Fiber Groom Elastic Texture Paste and distribute through ends of hair by twisting the lengths to create separation.
